It always amuses me to see the driver smoking. Evidently kids are only first when you aren't choking them with carcinogens.
I also love the cars with environmental bumper stickers plastered all over. They are just so smart they have to tell us all what to think too. Then they toss a cigarette out the window into the median or street.
The world is actually not your ashtray.I've gotten some email and a few people obviously don't understand that knives can kill you or at least seriously maim you. A man with a knife is holding a deadly weapon. There is no legal requirement that cops must be cut or stabbed with a knife. In fact we are allowed to use our guns, legally, to stop someone from cutting or stabbing us. Especially since we aren't Chuck Norris with a vast repertoire of round house kicks at our disposal. I've seen people pumping out of stab wounds. I will not let someone do it to me if I can help it.

No thanks.

Ouch! I don't blame you for not wanting a stab wound!
That is a nasty picture and reaffirms one of my two greatest fears as an officer, getting cut bad (the second is getting poked with some dirtbag's dirty needle).
Now that you say that--it is true about tree-huggers in my little world as well.
Re: that license plate - I think my favourite plate I've seen here in Virginia is a kids first plate that said "cthulhu" on it. Hilarious when combined with what looks like bloody handprints.
I remember seeing the "tobacco heritage" license plate at the DMV in Norfolk & telling my then-husband that the icon really ought to be a blackened lung.
I belong to a website with a lot of self-professed tree huggers on it (there's even a little tree hugging smilie). There was recently a thread on public transportation and a LARGE number of women said they won't take it because it take so long. Way to hug those trees!
As for the knife issue...If you have to explain to someone that you can get made dead with a knife, they're not going to understand anyway.
I hope the officer/officers recently involved in the shooting of the knife wielding man in Roanoke aren't punished. At some point the distance between you and the knife is unacceptable and action must be taken. I'm sure some people are saying 'why wasn't he tazered' but I assume (I know, dangerous word) that every cop doesn't wear one and self defense is required by the most efficient means possible.
The cigarette butt thing is one of my pet peeves as well. The other place I don't get it is in state parks. You hike all that way into nature to get rid of your cigarette butt? Really?
We had an officer stabbed 9 times about 5 years ago. He tried to do the PC thing and not go for his gun to end the situation. Lucky for the officer, we got there in time to save his ass. He ended up quitting a few months after the stabbing.
Anyone pulls a gun or a knife on me, you can guarantee I am drawing my weapon. I am going home alive and in one piece!
Chris,
Or better yet...the man who is biking while puffing away on a cigarette. Isn't that just defeating the purpose?
And the folks with the save the environment bumper stickers, HA! SPEEDING past me, jamming on the gas pedal on the floor as soon as the light turns green, etc.
You hike all that way into nature to get rid of your cigarette butt? Really?
Nah, you know what's depressing? Living in Hawaii and walking towards Honeymoon Beach on Hickam AFB & seeing how many airmen have thrown their butts on the ground. Or, really, walking anywhere in Hawaii & seeing that. I lived in a perpetual state of "Why are you ******* up Paradise, people?"
